Wearing a wool coat during the summer months is a different experience. Luckily, I had purchased this classic wool coat during the winter months in London before I came to Melbourne, Australia. It’s a coat I didn’t think I would get any use out of, but here I am, bundled up in a turtleneck and wool coat. Depending on where you live, this coat might not be enough. The Melbourne winter is a reflection of fall weather in Denmark. It gets cold, but not ear-bitingly so.

Choosing the Perfect Fall/Winter Outerwear

I have had many different winter outerwear pieces over the years, and this time I wanted a piece that would withstand the test of time. So I opted for this simple, classic wool coat with a belt, which I personally think is really important if you want to keep your upper body warm during the cold days. From experience, a long wool coat is useless if the cold breeze can travel through it.

My Fall/Winter Outfit Essentials

I brought these double-layered khaki green trousers, which keep me comfortable and warm. I paired them with a turtleneck that doesn’t totally match the trousers but still goes well and adds a play of tones. My beige suede boots are probably one of my favorite purchases in a long time. They are just the right fit and narrow (suiting my slim frame), with squared designs at the tip and the heel. The color goes with every pair of bottoms I brought with me.

Tips for Choosing Fall/Winter Clothing

Layer effectively: Pairing a turtleneck with a wool coat can provide extra warmth. A nice hoodie and a pair of cargo pants is also a great way to style the coat but will definitely lean more towards a street-style look.

Choose versatile footwear: Beige suede boots are a great choice because they can match various outfits, but it depends on your style, of course.

Invest in a classic wool coat: A good wool coat is a safe choice if you want it to last several seasons and be a piece that will never go out of style. It is essential for staying warm and stylish during the fall/winter months.
